  • How many coats of paint do I need?

    The quick answer is, anytime there’s a color or sheen change, our policy at Erick’s Home Repair & Remodeling’s Painting Services is to apply two coats of paint. While there are many so-called “one coat” paints being marketed, we have tried them, and rest assured, our years of experience have taught us they do not cover. To learn more, click here.

  • How many coats of paint do I need?

    There are a few different types of sheen: Gloss, Flat, Mid Sheen, Low Sheen. You can schedule your Free Consultation, and you will work with one of our specialists to determine the right sheen and color for you.

  • What are primers used for?

    A primer’s job is to bond to and seal the surface for final applications of paint. Learn more here.

  • Are you insured?

    At Erick’s Home Repair & Remodeling’s Painting Services, safety is a top priority. We conduct background checks, and we carry a $1,000,000 Workers Compensation policy as well as a $1,000,000 Liability Insurance policy which includes Identity Theft Protection

  • May I purchase my own paint?

    Yes, you can choose your own paint, brand, color, sheen, etc. We are happy to pass along our contractor savings to you and purchase paint on your behalf with Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, and/or BEHR. We can also color match from other brands of paint to your preferred brand.

  • How cold is too cold to apply coatings?

    While it used to be true that you could not paint below 50 degrees for exterior paint, and still is for interior paint, there are now latex exterior paints that can be painted in temperatures as low as 35 degrees.

  • What's included in my paint project?

    Our Basic Exterior Paint Preparation process includes the following:

    • Power wash with mildew killer on all surfaces to be painted or stained
    • Cover all furniture and floors
    • Scrape and remove all loose popping and peeling paint
    • Caulk all cracks, open seams, and holes
    • Sand and prime all raw surfaces
    • Remove downspouts to paint corner boards
    • Spray one finish coat of siding paint, and brush and spray one finish coat of paint on trim unless specified otherwise Schedule an appointment for a custom project quote.
  • How do I prepare for my paint project?

    After you agree on a date for your project, you will receive a confirmation, contact information for your Tech Team, and a link to your pre-project checklist so you know exactly how to prepare for your project. Relax, we will send you reminders along the way.

  • How often should I wash the exterior of my home?

    It is recommended that a house be washed once a year to extend the life of the paint by removing surface contaminants like dirt, mold, and mildew that can deteriorate the surface film. More than once a year can begin to abrade the surface film which can shorten the life of the paint.

  • Do you offer a Warranty?

    We offer a workmanship warranty. The paint itself is warrantied by the manufacturer. **Please be sure to ask about the warranty specific to your project as every project is different.

  • Do you use contractors?

    Yes. We do utilize independent contractors. We make sure that every contractor has the proper licensing and insurance and expect them to do high-quality work for every job. Rest assured that we will be in communication from start to finish of your project to ensure you are completely satisfied with the job done.

  • How do I care for paint to make it last longer?

    Do not wash your newly painted surfaces for at least 30 days! Latex paint coatings normally take approximately 30 days to fully cure. Once cured, use a warm damp cloth utilizing a small amount of soap to gently wash away dirt, or grime, and then rinse thoroughly. Never use degreaser or harsh chemicals, such as bleach, ammonia, etc. Refer to the coating manufacturer’s care instructions for additional information.

  • How often should I stain my deck?

    The frequency you will have to re-stain your deck depends on the type of stain you use.
